Site Manager
Site Manager (SM) is a web site content management system (CMS). It has been developed by the Institute for Interactive Media and Learning to help staff at UTS manage the content of University web sites. There are currently more than 40 web sites controlled by SM, from small conference sites to entire faculty web sites, and over 200 users across the University.
"SM is an easy-to-use web-based interface that allows users to build and edit web pages."
What does SM do?
SM is a database-driven CMS that allows users to manage the content of their own faculty or unit web pages and publish them to the Internet.
It has an easy-to-use web-based interface that allows users to build and edit web pages and view the changes before publishing them to a web server. They can do this without knowing how to use a database or read and code in complex web page programming languages.
As there is no one right way to build or develop a web site, SM has been designed as a highly flexible tool, so users always have a choice of ways to achieve what they set out to do.
Who can use SM?
Any UTS staff member responsible for managing or updating the content of a UTS web sites can use SM (provided the web site is located in SM).
What software and skills do you need?
To use SM, you need a computer and web browser software such as Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer. Word processing skills are essential and basic HTML (hyper text mark-up language) skills are very useful.
