Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
Scholarly teaching at UTS includes exploring our own teaching and learning as well as the current issues and debates in the literature and within disciplines, then building upon these discussions to enhance teaching practice, to contribute to improving understanding of teaching and learning, and to further develop the debates.

Some interesting links for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL)
- The Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) has supported the scholarship of teaching and learning through a wide variety of initiatives, including a fellowship scheme for outstanding scholars and the Australian Awards for University Teaching which recognise scholarly teachers and their work. A database of teaching and learning projects they have funded provides an invaluable resource for scholarly teaching and learning, particularly in disciplines. See the ALTC Resource Library for a collection of learning and teaching materials from ALTC-funded projects and ALTC Discipline Scholars.
- The Higher Education Academy (HEA) in the UK has funded a large number of projects and subject centres to work with and provide support and resources for their discipline areas. Their Resources page provides links to these discipline areas and to thematic areas that contain resources that reflect some current themes in higher education. - Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) is funded by the Carnegie foundation to "support the development of a scholarship of teaching and learning that: fosters significant, long-lasting learning for all students; enhances the practice and profession of teaching, and; brings to faculty members' work as teachers the recognition and reward afforded to other forms of scholarly work". The work done by this academy explicitly builds upon a conception of teaching as scholarly work that was proposed in the 1990 in Boyer's 'Scholarship Reconsidered', and subsequently built upon by Glassick, Huber, and Maeroff in their 1997 'Scholarship Assessed' available in the UTS City Campus Library.
