Managing curriculum data
The UTS: Academic Programs Office (APO) is part of the Institute for Interactive Media and Learning (IML), in the division of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Teaching, Learning and Equity).
The APO manages and coordinates official University curriculum information in its various forms; implements, maintains and supports the curriculum management process; and oversees the award course approval process.
The APO can assist with inquiries regarding:
- approval of new courses
- changes to existing courses
- phasing out and discontinuing courses
- reaccreditation of existing courses
- course and award nomenclature
- external articulation arrangements
- committees and timelines
- CASS data management
- CIS data management
- OCAP (Online Course Accreditation and Approval).
Refer to the structure diagram for an illustration of the relationship between the CASS, CIS and OCAP systems. These systems comprise the single authoritative source of course and subject information at UTS.
When developing a new course, reviewing an existing course for reaccreditation purposes or making significant changes to an existing course structure or content, faculties should contact the relevant APO staff member(s) early in the process to discuss the proposal.
Other administrative units, such as the Student Administration Unit (SAU), UTS International and the Planning and Quality Unit (PQU), may also provide assistance and information in relation to specific course matters.
Process flowcharts
