Field of education and funding cluster

Each UTS subject has a field of education (FOE) code in accordance with the coding system advised by the Federal Government. Each FOE code links to a student contribution band and a funding cluster determined by the Federal Government. The student contribution band determines the maximum student contribution amount and the cluster determines the Commonwealth Grant Scheme funding.

As the FOE codes have significant implications for university revenue, any change to the FOE code of a subject requires approval by the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
