Field of education
Each UTS award course is grouped by field of education (FOE/ASCED code) in accordance with the coding system advised by the Federal Government. The FOE of a research course is used to determine Research Training Scheme (RTS) funding.
Change to the FOE/ASCED code of an approved award course is normally considered and approved by the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
Proposals for change can be submitted via the Academic Programs Office (APO) in the form of a memo from the dean to the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor. The proposal must include:
- course name, code and version
- proposed new or changed FOE/ASCED code
- the reason and advantages of the change.
The APO advises stakeholders of approvals and the record of approval is placed on the course file held in the APO.
Outlined in the flowchart below are the general steps required for changing the FOE/ASCED code of an existing course.
