UTSOnline: Turnitin
Turnitin's online plagiarism detection software is one of the strategies UTS uses to discourage and detect plagiarism. The Turnitin software is now fully integrated within UTSOnlline enabling staff and students to scan assignments without registering for a separate account and password.
A number of resources have been developed that explain how to use Turnitin from within Blackboard:
- A datasheet (PDF 264KB) giving an overview of this Blackboard integration.
- An online video animation presenting detailed step-by-step instructions on its use.
- A manual (PDF 576KB) describing the ways in which an instructor and a student could use Turnitin.
Turnitin can be used in any of the content areas in UTSOnline from the tool menu options.
An assignment submission link can be set up for staff or students to upload files. Also there is an option whereby students can access their own Originality Reports.
When a Turnitin assignment link is created students can upload their assignment files.
This Turnitin link provides full instructions on submitting an assignment.
Staff can view the Originality Reports of submitted assignments via the 'Turnitin Assignments' link in the Control Panel.
The Originality Reports are also accessible from the 'Gradebook'.
