Availability of References at UTS
There is now an extensive literature available covering almost every aspect of teaching and learning in higher education. This ranges from brief practical guides through to weighty theoretical discussions. Many of these works are available for loan to academic staff from the Institute for Interactive Media and Learning (Level 27, Building 1) or at the Markets Library. Academic staff are more than welcome to come and browse through the shelves, and to discuss the available literature with IML staff.
Practical Guides
The shortest and most practical of the books available in the IML are:
- Green Guides, published by the Higher Education Research & Development Society of Australasia. Each guide is approximately 40 pages long and aims to give useful, practical advice in the context of current Australian practice and up-to-date theoretical knowledge. Titles which will be of most immediate use to new staff members are:

- The 53 Interesting Things series. As their titles suggest, these books offer purely practical suggestions for teaching methods and activities, most of which can be implemented quite readily. Naturally, not all of these will be relevant to your situation or suited to your style. Nevertheless, you are sure to find some useful ideas in them. Some titles in the series are:
