Teaching Matters: A four-part video on university teaching

About the videos

The four videos are:

  1. Lectures

  2. Tutorials

  3. Practicals

  4. Assessment

Each video contains case studies of university lecturers or tutors teaching their students and reflecting on their aims and approaches. Students comments encourage an emphasis on the connections between teaching and student learning. Each video is accompanied by a booklet, including descriptions of points to note in the case studies, with issues for reflection and discussion.

The case studies show examples of good teaching practice including: teaching in large classes, creating interaction in lectures; facilitating tutorials participation; developing students' laboratory skills; encouraging students' creativity; giving students feedback; using peer assessment. They can be used on their own as triggers for workshop discussion, or used with the booklets as a resource for independent learning.

Produced in collaboration with a project team from the University of Technology, Sydney, these videos offer a high quality resource for academics and academic developers alike.
