Communicating and collaborating online
UTSOnline provides a variety of tools to ensure that students and instructors can easily communicate and collaborate to enhance teaching and learning at UTS. Building a sense of community among students is crucial for a successful online experience. This section covers:
- Blogs - UTSOnline has two blog tools available for you to use with students - the Blackboard blog and the Campus Pack blog.
- Discussions - online meeting place for social interaction among peers. Learn how to set up a discussion board, add a whole-of-class discussion area and a group discussion area.
- Discussions - posting & replying - how to start a new thread and reply to a post, how to navigate the forum, moderate discussion board content, collect threads and more.
- Groups in UTSOnline provides step by step instructions on how to batch create groups, how to enable self enrolment, creating a single group for self enrolment or manual enrolment as well as instructions on how to create a group set using random enrolment.
- Group Tools available within UTSOnline - an explanation of the tools available for groups to collaborate on course work and what a group might do with each tool.
- Netiquette - a resource to share with your students, explaining the do's and don'ts of online communication.
- Wikis - students can work collaboratively and create online pages which include text, pictures, links, files and embedded audio and videos.
