Assignments
As part of the assessment requirements in your subject, you might require students to electronically submit an assignment. This may be a single file (such as a Microsoft Word file) or it could be multiple files (including images, text, audio or video). In UTSOnline there are two types of assignments you can add to your subject for electronic submission:
1. The standard Assignment or
2. The Turnitin Assignment which provides an additional similarity checking feature on submissions to assist with the prevention of plagiarism.
For consistency within a subject, you would normally use either the standard Assignment or Turnitin Assignment. The following table outlines the features of each to help you decide which version is best for your subject:

- In the standard Assignment area the instructor would download the student assignment, use track changes to make comments and revisions, then upload the annotated file to the assignments area for release to the student
- In Turnitin Assignments, the GradeMark feature allows you to annotate submissions directly without the need for downloading the assignment or uploading the annotated assignment
